Dan Page
A Songwriter’s Evening

The Hideaway Room @ Helen's

As part of the Sullivan family New York songfest that lasted several days in March, songwriter Dan Page presented A Songwriter's Evening at The Hideaway Room @ Helen's. A Texan, who now lives and writes songs in Massachusetts, Dan has collaborated with his wife Michelle and several Sullivans, most often Tim, in writing songs that have thrice won Dan the Massachusetts Songwriter of the Year award (for country music). He, Michelle, and Tim also created the powerful one man musical Diary of a Songwriter. In 2003 Dan's and Michelle's Cowboy Up was the theme song for the Boston Red Sox. At the Hideaway Room, surrounded by his many collaborators, including Elizabeth and Heather Sullivan and Sue Matsuki, Dan brought to the stage many singers. Among them, his granddaughter Emma and daughter Erin sang Little Toy Train, and Stacy Sullivan a selection from her CD, Goodbye Don't Get Any Better Than This. Given his roots, Dan's country flavor and inspirational themes come as no surprise. He sang Faith is Going to Bring Us Home; Tim performed Road to Paradise; and Elizabeth Sullivan presented a song about new beginnings (she wrote the melody): A New Sheet of Paper. But Dan is also very witty, and a clever number, wickedly sung by Sue Matsuki, one of four collaborators on the piece, One Stop Shopping, turned Bed, Bath, and Beyond into an amusing double entendre. Dan and Michelle have not officially claimed the status of adopted Sullivans, but it is clear that they are considered family and now can finally be associated with the many songs familiar to Sullivan fans.
