WELCOME

On Sunday November 15, 2009, I brought my show YIP HARBURG: WITH HUMOR AND HOPE back to Don’t Tell Mama. The show was also a celebration of the release of my new CD, of the same name, that I recorded with my music director, Gregory Toroian, on piano, and David Finck, on bass.

The lyricist for The Wizard of Oz, Finian’s Rainbow and so many movies and Broadway musicals, E. Y. "Yip" Harburg has been called Broadway’s social conscience. The show and the CD highlight many of Yip’s songs of social comment – songs with both great humor and hope and a sizeable dose of irreverence.

No lyricist is more fun than Yip -- who else would write about "the idle poor" becoming "the idle rich", or beggating "the misbegotten GOP"? Yip collaborated with so many extraordinary composers, including Harold Arlen, Burton Lane, and Jerome Kern.

The CD is available at CDBABY.com, Amazon.com and Indierhythm.com.
